Plain English Bespoke Cabinetry in New York City

In 2018, Plain English Design opened their first standalone showroom in America, situated in New York City on East Tenth Street.

Founded in Suffolk, England in 1992, Plain English continues to set the benchmark for cabinetry made the old-fashioned way – by hand. Inspired by classic British interiors, our custom designs are suited for the kitchen and beyond: including Pantries, Mudrooms, Butlers Pantries, Sculleries, Bedrooms, Bathrooms, Dressing Rooms, Laundry Rooms, Libraries, Home Offices, Bars and Poolhouses.

We are a Design Studio, sharing our sensibility and craft to deliver the refinement and expertise for which we are known. Attention to detail defines How We Work: we offer exclusive paint colours, hand-cast ironmongery, and finishes such as our Delft Tiles that distinguish a Plain English project.

We welcome visits and projects from individual clients, as well as architects, interior designers, and contractors, working together from concept through to installation; from start to finish.

VISIT US IN NEW YORK

Located at 51 East Tenth Street, Our Studio operates from two floors of a historic 19th Century brownstone with a small, leafy garden. Entering the main Parlour Floor offers two unique Kitchen displays that showcase our elegantly simple and bespoke designs.

Going downstairs, the Garden Floor reveals the breadth and diversity of our work – featuring our Pantries, Sculleries, Wardrobes, Offices, Wine Rooms, Bars, and Laundry Rooms, as well as our freestanding Worktables, Larders and Dining Room Furniture.
