Barcelona Attico
A most interesting project in Barcelona began with attention focused on the restoration work that brought the duplex apartment back to its original proportion and scale.
Once that part was complete the design work began. In the kitchen, our Osea cupboards line the walls while a brushed stainless steel refrigerator and freezer add an industrial sensibility. Entertaining and cooking are frequent activities for the family, so work surfaces and access to storage were top priorities. An original tiled ceiling was restored and light pours in from large picture windows onto the Marcael marble worktop and stone floor. Our Combs doors are detailed with bespoke brass Weymouth handles and a very thoroughly planned set of pull-out cupboards and drawers maintain the desire for clean and simple lines.
Borrowed light from the kitchen into the utility room flows through our glass and iron screens, allowing for the ability to create discrete spaces or to open them all up. Oak-lined open cupboards reference the warm parquet flooring in the next-door room and period decor from the mid-century creates a strong backdrop for the family’s collection of curated art and heirlooms.
